Cupcake Nail art

Thanks if you’ve followed on from the Crazy cupcake circle, that was really fun.  I really enjoyed sharing my cupcakes with you.

Here are the basic instructions for the cupcake nail art.  I have painted them on each finger, but this design woould look lovely even on one finger nail if you didn’t want to do them all.

TIP & HINTS:

1) If you’d like to try this design, and you’re not confident painting your own nails, paint the design on the hand you don’t use, so you’re using your ‘good hand’ to paint the design with (being ambidextrous I paint the same with both hands, lucky me :P ).

2) Paint a little design on your pinky finger, it’s less likely to be damaged by wear.

3) Practice on paper first!

How to paint cupcake nails

Step 1) Undercoat your nail.  Then once dry, apply a coat of you fave pastel colour, I used a champagne colour then coated it with transparent gold sparkle.  I think next time I’d go a mint or pale lemon for that vintage feel.

Paint the pattypan shape for the cupcake base with one coat of cream.  Allow to dry.

Step 2) Highlight the ribbed effect of the patty pan with a liner brush nail polish of migipen in a lighter colour than your base, so I used white.  Allow to dry.

I then added a coat of silver glitter.

Step 3) Choose an icing colour, I used a mid value pink, and painted a triangle shaped blob.  Allow to dry and then outline the icing and add a little detail using a darker value (dark pink) liner nailpolish or migipen.  Allow to dry.

Step 4) Add some sprakle sequins applying them with a stylus and finally top your cupcake with a red diamonte.  Allow to dry.  Apply 2 coats of clear.
